Planned Giving

Cobb-Regas Friends of Progressive Christianity

As a special incentive to include PCU in your estate planning, all persons making a planned gift to PCU with a projected value of $10,000 or more will be enrolled in the Cobb-Regas Friends of Progressive Christianity--a special circle of supporters that has been named in honor of PCU’s distinguished co-founders, John B. Cobb, Jr., and George F. Regas. As the Friends network grows, we will seek to institute an annual fellowship meal. The Friends will also be identified and thanked in the souvenir program book produced in connection with PCU’s annual gala.

Now Emeritus Professor at the Claremont School of Theology, John Cobb, Jr. is ranked among the world’s foremost living theologians and remains the leading contemporary exponent of process theology. He is the author or co-author of more than 40 books and continues to lecture throughout the world.

George Regas, the Rector Emeritus of All Saints Church in Pasadena, is nationally and internationally renowned for his passionate and effective activism and advocacy on behalf of all victims of injustice and war. He continues to inspire and mentor prophetic clergy leaders everywhere.

How to Make a Gift to Progressive Christians Uniting:

Gifts in Life

Offer a gift of cash, securities or other assets, such as real estate.

Gifts through Bequests

Arrange for a gift through your will or living trust in a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or even part or the entire residue of your estate.

Gifts through Life Insurance

Make a large gift at a small cost simply by giving a new or existing insurance policy designating Progressive Christians Uniting as a beneficiary.

Gifts through Retirement Plans

You may reduce or avoid income or estate taxes on the balance in your individual retirement account (IRA, 401(k), 403(b), Keough or other plan) upon your death simply by naming Progressive Christian Uniting as a beneficiary of part or all of remaining balance.

Gifts through Charitable Remainder Trusts

You may receive an income for life or a period of years, reduce your taxable estate and benefit your heirs and PCU with a transfer of cash, securities or real estate to a trust.

Any of these types of gifts can be made for general unrestricted use by Progressive Christians Uniting, or you may chose to restrict your gift for a designated purpose.  Whichever kind of gift you chose, it is important that your intentions be reviewed with your attorney, tax counsel or financial advisor and be specified in writing, using appropriate language. PCU, whose federal tax identification number is 95-4643127, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. If you wish to receive additional information on these and other gift techniques, please contact us at 213-625-0149.

& Your

Estate Planning:

We invite you to include PCU in your estate planning.

The main consideration is whether you can truly say that PCU’s work expresses your deepest values, and whether this means your legacy should grow PCU’s reach and effectiveness for generations to come.

Will you help us build PCU’s capacity to help bring more people to the point of seeing clearly, reflecting authentically, and acting redemptively in the spirit of the living Christ? Please let us know that we are in your plans and contact us for more information.

The beginning of the progressive faith journey, in all its complex power relations, is to see the world clearly. Then we need to reflect and pray and analyze carefully the situations we confront. And then, most urgently of all, we must free ourselves to act decisively in behalf of the despised and vulnerable.
