Los Angeles Social Forum
University of Southern California
Los Angeles is ground zero for many movement struggles in the US: immigrant rights, living wage, the environment, peace and justice. Much can be gained by integrating these struggles from the local to the global, exchanging tactics and stories, and developing strategies and projects in common cause. Together we can build a better Los Angeles and in doing so build a more just, equitable and sustainable world. LASF will be an open space for the sharing of movement struggles, tactics and projects; workshops, cultural events and panels will be primarily organized by LASF participants. We need your organizations, networks and coalitions to build the forum by organizing and facilitating such events. Our goal is to build strong linkages between organizations by bringing together a wide diversity of constituency movements in the LA area. Please join us for a weekend of building bridges between the movements for social justice, environment action, criminal reform, election fairness, gender equity, political power and cultural expression. See the Schedule Online. The Los Angeles Social Forum is the place where Southern California activists will meet and share power, plans, perspectives, ideas and the beginning of a network. Saving Marriage
All Saints Church, 132 N. Euclid Avenue, Pasadena
Reception 5:30 PM
Screening 6:30 PM
How did Massachusetts recognize the human rights of gay and lesbian citizens with marriage equality? It didn’t happen by accident! You’re invited to come learn more from the new documentary film, Saving Marriage, about the pioneering work of organizers and citizens in Massachusetts, who fought and won the struggle for marriage equality in their state. California is now poised on the threshold of an identical effort as we work to oppose a ballot initiative which would threaten the recently attained freedom to marry granted by the California State Supreme Court. Massachusetts has much to teach us, and the lessons are particularly compelling as they are presented by this award winning documentary. A panel conversation will follow, including the film’s producer, John Henning as well as members of the Marriage Equality Coalition and Rev. Susan Russell. There is no charge for admission, all are welcome. Contact Norma Sigmund for more information at 626.583.2734. Sponsored by All Saints Church and the San Gabriel Valley Interfaith Coalition for Marriage Equality.

Celebrating Love at The Church in Ocean Park
235 Hill Street, Santa Monica, 90405
10:15 AM
RSVP Required by June 25
On Sunday, July 6th, the Church in Ocean Park will be celebrating God’s sacred gift of love. We will celebrate all couples - gay and straight - and their commitments to each other. Those who are already married may renew their vows. All who want to be married will have that opportunity as well! This will be a sacred ceremony. We invite you to come and experience the mystical within community. Too often, congregations have treated gay and lesbian and transgender people as unworthy. This is a sin and NOT what God’s love is about! You are invited to join this community whatever your sexual orientation,
whether you are in a committed relationship or not. Your presence will enhance our community! To receive more info and to reserve your spot, contact:
310-399-1631 (#2) (RSVP Required by June 25th!) Minister: Rev Janet Gollery McKeithen (UMC)
