What we seek to do:
PCU’s Eighth Day Project seeks to address a disconnect felt in the lives of so many Christians today. The separation takes place between our deepest values and the ongoing degradation of both planet and people that we see happening all around us. Free market capitalism and unsustainable consumerism have overshadowed so many of the things we as Christians hold dear: the centrality of just relationships, a feeling for the earth itself, and the use of civic institutions for a common good agenda.
Progressive people of faith correctly see this as a social crisis and as a spiritual crisis. But we also believe that together we can begin to make new connections and build a different kind of future for ourselves and our descendants. The Eighth Day Project is a vehicle for channeling that bright hope and that faithful energy in strategically useful ways.
